    Bug with text

    I hope someone can help me fix this. This is a pretty crippling problem. For some reason, ALL of my counters switched their font to the glitched text shown in the picture. All new counters I make now defaultly set to this. I can't change the font, I can't change the color. It was all working fine ten minutes ago, I haven't changed anything in relation to my computer, and I was only using Arial on the counters prior to this.

    I just updated it yesterday, and I checked right now and it says its up to date.

    I just restarted my computer, but it still has the same problem. It seems that ALL counters are now glitched like this for me, even when I start a new project.

    The important factor is the Type option under Settings. It has various options, primarily Text and Numbers.

    It is traditionally set to Numbers and this uses the style of display which has been around since Klik & Play. In this mode graphics are used to represent each number, and you change the graphic from the main Settings tab by pressing the Edit button then the Text Tool. Doing so will allow you to change options and re-generate the graphics used for the counter. Since this does not use the standard text options tab (since it uses changable graphics and not standard text) the contents of the Text Options tab is greyed and the font is shown as %T (it does this for everyone - its a minor glitch).

    If you change the Type to Text then it will basically display like a regular alterable string. In such cases you cannot alter each number in the graphics editor and instead the Text Options tab will be usable and show the relevant font, colour and other details.

    Under tools/preferences then the frame editor default font perhaps try changing that.

    I also agree with Josh its something very weird going on.

    Perhaps a reinstall of MMF and/or a virus/garbageware scan of your computer to make sure nothing weird is going on with it or its fonts.

    Jeff: As far as I can tell nothing weird is going on and it is not a virus. It is just the user trying to change graphics via the font tab instead of editing each image individually or changing to text mode. The fact that MMF2 displays %T when it is weird but not unique to the user.

    Yeah ok, I was able to change it like that. I was so used to changing the String objects from the properties window, I expected the counters to be the same way. A bit odd, but I can deal with it.

    Remember that while in Numbers (classic) mode you can change each pixel of each number. Hence being able to just set the font through a tab would be too limiting. That doesn't mean that such a fact is obvious, tho.

    Yeah, I thought about that afterwards. This is better.

    Does that also mean that I can use any font I want for numbers without worrying about the font being needed on other machines? (I tend to always use common fonts for this reason.)

    If you are in Numbers or Animation mode? Yes, you can use any font you wish. You could even make your fonts in a graphics package. May your next flannville game be full of cool counters ^_^.
