    [REQUEST] Drop Shadowing

    Howdy Game Fans!

Who agrees with me that it would be great to have a drop shadow property for actives? I'd suggest the ability to set the distance, angle, color and "drop off" or blending for the shadows as well.

I currently design my graphics with Adobe Fireworks and they turn out really nice when I put drop shadows on them. But the shadows interact undesirably when it comes to doing collision detection, since MMF2 sees the shadow as part of the object.

    Thoughts?

yeah- you make the shadow separate from the active which moves with it - viola - no collision.

Sure, but there's several extra steps involved in that. I'd much rather check a check box and set a few parameters...

Nice idea to add to the grand and humongous wish list, though.

A pixel shader could do that automatically but some mathematical formulas are necessary... it's a bit difficult but feasible.

Ditto to the drop shadows on text objects.

Yeah, also you could have glow effects and "add noise" effects.

    Re: [REQUEST] Drop Shadowing

I don't think any of these features should be built in, it's better to just support them as pixel shaders if possible, or program them manually in the event editor. The 90's are over anyway, the ban the drop shadow on texts have earned is permanent.

    Re: [REQUEST] Drop Shadowing

For text, when you are putting a certain color text over a complex background, there is a good reason to have both a stroke and a well-designed drop shadow to help make the text stand out and make it more readable.

I do that all the time when working on professional layouts.

    However, I see your point.
