    Including Fonts into an application

I am creating in application, and part of the application the user can change the font name of some of the text objects so they can that there own personal feel. The only problem is when I install the program on other computers, not all the fonts can be displayed because the users computer does not have them. Is there a way I can include the fonts included in my program into there computer?

If you build an install program, you can add fonts and install it into the users font directory.

The only thing to keep in mind here is that fonts are not freeware. Some are, but some are copyrighted. If your application is free, I doubt there'll be a problem, but if it's a commercial application, you may not be allowed to distribute the fonts as part of the program.

When faced with this problem, I created my text in my game/app with the font I want and then I convert it to a Backdrop Object. This way you don't need to have the required font on other computers so you don't need to distribute it with your software.

Just wanted to add: keep in mind that many users will not be excited if you install fonts into their system. Also, fonts mean technical trouble or even rejection if you're planning to sell the game through gaming portals. So using the backdrop method is the best way at the moment.

Re: Including Fonts into an application

MMF2 could really use a way to read font files from the application directory, or from a path specified in an expression. I personally think that no software have the right to create any files outside the application path without asking first - but the explanation of that is that I almost only use portable software.
