[Request] Icons with names

Could we please please please have icons with names underneath? I get mad with searching. Searching for the right object eats half the development time. I have to hover over nearly every object to wait for the tooltip popping up. Even colouring the icons is no solution. I change an initial value of a counter and whoosh it is back to its initial icon. Yes, i know, i could lock all icons. But even when, i miss the name badly. An icon is no substitute for the name. Try to remember 20 colours associated to an object and you know what i mean.



And this counts for the icon list at the top too. Searching, searching, searching ...

Using Folders could help in your case, I agree that it would be a nice feature though. For the icon changing, you can disable automatic generation of icons...

I think we need custom icons for folders too, I have about 20 folders in my project and I have to hover over them all to find one still.

I had disabled automatic icon creation. But then i am in trouble with the objects where i need the automatic icon creation. Like the active objects.

Folders? Guess why my counters are this cluttered between all other objects now, search, search ... :grin:

An autosort feature for the icon list at the top would be fine. Makes simply no fun to sort 100 objects manually by name or by type ...

OMG ... Use the Names Variable object for example to use your own named variables but so much single counters ... LOL!
Also you're able to calculate this names in the Event Editor ... impossible with counters. Only a tip...

I use counters only for display purposes. I put other values in related/new actives.

Even when there are just three or four objects of a type present, you have to hover with the mouse over it to have a look which one is the one you need. Which is time consuming. And it becomes more time consuming the more objects you use.

The decision to use counters is my decision. I have my very valid reasons for that. No matter if you accept it or not. And i use them whenever i want them to use. So no need to tell me the workarounds. I know what i am doing here.

I don't ask for permission to use counters here, i want to demonstrate why we need names under the icons

I think it is a valid point.

I hope MMF3 has lots of smaller UI differences like this to make it easier to jump into MMF.

Hmm... it's a good idea Maybe it could be even added too the next build, if it's not to much work
