Neither Counter nor Score objects will appear?

For some reason, counter and score objects are refusing to display in my game application.

If I make a completely new application and create counter and score objects, they display just fine, so what might be happening to stop them from appearing at all in my current application?

"Visible at start" is definitely checked.
I've tried inserting reappear commands, too.
And there's no problem with string objects if that helps.

Is there a different object I could use for basic score keeping function if I can't get this worked out?

Any possible solutions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm just not able to see the forest through the trees. I'm sure there's something I'm overlooking but I'm not sure what that could be.

In any case, thanks for your help.

Have you made sure 'display as background' is unchecked. That often makes them vanish

"Display as background" is unchecked, too, so I don't think that's it. Thanks though.

Re: Neither Counter nor Score objects will appear?

I actually doubt it is any of these since you say it counts for all newly created objects.. but anyway:

    [size:11pt]Possible causes:[/size]

    In the frame editor:
    - Create at start is switched off
    - Follow the frame is switched off or on (depending on where you want it displayed)
    - Visible at start is switched off
    - It is in a layer that has another scrolling coefficient

    In the event editor:
    - You tell it to destroy
    - You tell it to change position
    - You tell it to go invisible
    - The layer it is in is set to invisible

If you don't figure it out, what you can do, since strings are working, is to use a string instead

Re: Neither Counter nor Score objects will appear?

Wow, it was the "follow the frame" box. As soon as I checked it, the counter appeared in the game where I'd placed it on the map. Now it seems to work fine. I must not understand the meaning of that box.

Thanks for your help! I would have had to putz around for hours before I'd have figured it out on my own!

If "follow the frame" option is ticked, it will scroll out of the screen when you move. The "frame" is the "world", not the window.
If you untick it, it will not follow the world, but instead the window.

It's not really the most intuitively-named option... since TGF I've had to mentally rename it "Don't follow the game window".

I know what the problem is... did you set them to display as background, if display as background is on they will not show, so make them not backgrounds okay.
