    Java Pong

I'm on vacation this week and was bored today so I sat down and started working on cloning some old school games. Making Pong was most fun so I got it done first. It probably took about 2 and a half hours to make (including making all the sprites). I have completely Javalized it. When I finished I noticed it was under 20 events so I plan to enter a more thorough version in the 20 event competition. You can play it at my site http://www.gerbletech.com/games (sorry for the mess the site's in I have broken links galore). You move your paddle (the left one) with the up and down arrows. I have three versions made.

Any comments would be appreciated. I think its interesting to see a game, albeit simple, that could almost be considered complete and exist in Java form. It really shows the evolution of MMF2.

I just browsed through the Java forum here and the first 50 topics of the Open Topic Community Forum and unless I missed something THIS is the first Java game that has been released. There's been some apps and such but no games. A bit appropriate the first Java game is pong

Aww man! I guess I did miss one! Thanks for correcting me.

Also, can anyone confirm that the samples don't play on EVERY collision of the ball? I noticed this on my PC (running Vista) but not my mac (running OSX Leopard)

Yes they do. But why don't you want the sounds to play on every collision? It sounds good to me

I also have Vista and the samples are playing at every collision (with the wall, or with the bats).

Works fine on every collision with XP. Maybe it's just something wrong with your computer?

Well, I'm glad to see it works fine for everyone else. Must be my computer.
