    BUG: Channel volume glitches

I just wanted to report that the channel volume settings seem to glitch up pretty frequentley. Im going to have to remove any usage of the channel volume feature.

If you decrease channel volumes to 50% (for instance, I decreased all volume in channels 1-20, and had all sound effects pick a channel in that range to play on), but the channel volume setting only works about 75% of the time. That means one in four effects play at full volume, despite my custom settings.

It seems to glitch at random. Sometimes when I run my app, the sounds all stay at their proper volume. While other times, as many as 50% of the effects ignore my volume settings. Its just not a reliable tool right now.

    Re: BUG: Channel volume glitches

Set channel volume should be used in combination with 'play sample on channel'. If I don't remember wrong, the normal 'play sample' action resets the channel volume before starting to play the sound.

My own solution to getting the best results out of MMF2's sound features is to always use the "on channel" actions for everything, and come up with my own system for allocating channels.

    Re: BUG: Channel volume glitches

Well what I was doing was reserving 20 channels for sound fx, and others for music which I wanted at a higher volume.

I would lower the volume of channels 1-20, then when the sample would play I'd tell it to play on a random channel from those 1-20. So I was assigned them to play on specific channels, and like I said, it works MOST of the time, so the method is correct. The times when it doesn't work seem random.

    Re: BUG: Channel volume glitches

i have written recently a sound effects manager application for a theatre group - which does exactly that - stores sfx, and musics (which will loop), they all can be independently adjusted - files/volume at runtime, and also saved and loaded.
everything works fine for me and it uses a lot of channels.

if you're interested in the app - let me know.
