    Strange changes in YPos of Text Blitter

    TB displays a text which is
    - Always positioned at Xmouse,Ymouse+24

    Why is the distance between TB and mouse different, depending on the mouse position? If the mouse is in the upper half of the screen it seems to be correct, but once the mouse is moved to the lower half, the distance between mouse and TB shrinks...

    (MMF Build 247 with latest Bonuspack)

    Wouldn't you mind posting a quick test app? I'm using Text Blitter for months without problems.

    Seems it's related to the balloon options. I use the default TB, but "Enabled on startup" and "Keep balloon within screen" are active in the balloon settings.

    The height of TB has an effect, too. The higher, the stronger the effect. Just compare a height of 16 and 128.

    Can you reproduce it now or is it just me?

    Any chance this will be fixed in Build 248? Else I need to make a workaround.

    Yes TB doesn't follow the coordinates properly. And if I uncheck "Keep balloon within screen" I get an even more weird effect. I can't see the object most of the time, depending on the mouse position.

    It seems that Text Blitter needs another revision. In the meantime you could always create your own ballon effect.

    Did I ever mention that I usually avoid 3rd party stuff?
    I'm wondering no one noticed the trouble with balloon functions, after all they're pretty cool. I discovered this solution while trying to avoid a complicated workaround:

    Always -->
    set TB balloon off
    position TB at X/Y from mouse
    set balloon(xTB,yTB)

    This way it re-calculates the coordinates correctly.

    Btw, there's another balloon problem when appending text. The text hits the balloon border sometimes, may be a problem with word wrapping. The margin settings don't solve this. Looks like it depends to some degree on the length of the last word in a row.
