What is HWA

HWA stands for HardWare Acceleration, this means your games will be less laggy.

I'm not going to go into how HWA works, or its uses, because it is already reiterated several times in other threads in this section of the forums, but games will not simply be "less laggy" and there are many factors to consider, including what extensions you are using, what is causing the lag (calculations, large objects, too many objects, looping, etc.), and what type of computer setup the application is running on.

And also HWA can't be simply summarized like that... HWA also adds many new possibilities like Pixel-shaders, real V-sync in fullscreen, fast resampling, etc...

Very true. But in essence, at its very basics, HWA utilizes the GPU to help with drawing the objects, instead of relying completely on software. It has its advantages (mentioned in several different places), and its disadvantages, like not being compatible with all computers and having problems with paste into background (as of now) if I am not mistaken.

AFAIK, HWA simply lets the Graphics Card process the graphics/rendering instead of the CPU, letting it take over the other parts.
