    One for the talented mathematicians.

Or is it basic mathematics, and I'm just an idiot!? Probably.

I've been working on a Live Quiz game of sorts, which is online & multiplayer (Moosock, etc), it uses simple foreground graphics to present questions, meanwhile the background is a dull black.

I've used the Particle Widget for a flurry of stars effect to make the background more interesting - but it's still too empty; and such an effect can only be used so much before it burns peoples eyes.

I was wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to upload an example of one or two cool background effects for this boring black backbround, such as rippling waves or cool math-type effects (They would play behind the foreground graphics and be visible through the gaps between the floating graphics / or visible directly through the graphics when they're in semi-transparent/opacity)

I've been playing around; but this kind of thing isn't my strong point... I'm not looking for anything too indepth, and nothing that would take the focus off the foreground too much. The general screen area is 1024x768 - but just an effect of some sort so the background isn't just plain black. Something to learn from would be ideal!

If something like this has been uploaded before/discussed, point me to it - I had a search but turned nothing up!

Many thanks for all your help in advance. It's very much appreciated.

What does this have to do with maths?

"What does this have to do with maths?"

    ...or with tech support

Check Animal Crossing's interface design for example?

I've seen some cool effects done with maths&particles. Figured it would be a good place to start. Apparently not , thanks for the replies though.

Well that were neither nice nor helpful replies here. So a little pointer. A guy from the forums here called "Popcorn" did quite some stuff exactly like you have in mind.

I'm pretty certain he posted about those things. I don't quite feel like searching the stuff for you, but hey, it's a start
