    Equiping equipment

How do I do equiping and unequiping of items for Isometric games?

I know how to do in Platform and Topdown but not Isometric, you just have the character and each equippable a different active and invisible some of them out, one problem with doing this in isometric is order.

No I don't mean equipping as in extra to the inventory.

I mean how do we do the animations of different equipped items and how do I order them correctly?

Same as any other game, except you have to consider laying them correctly.

Re: Dragonguy asks yet another question

Wait I think I know how to correctly layer them now, it's well exactly the same way as platform, didn't realise that until mechabrowser told me to think about it.

In Platform or Isometric it goe's like this
    behind weapon goes behind character
armor go goe's infront of character
front weapon goe's infront of armor

The Front/Behind Weapons depend which direction the character is facing

    left behind - N NE E SE
    right behind - N NW W SW
    left front - S SW W NW
    right front - S SE E NE

Whereas in Topdown all equipped items go infront of player

Ok the Layer issue is sorted but how do I animate them? Iv'e animated characters with weapons already attached but how do I animate them separately without screwing it up? Wrong position or wrong animation that kind of thing.

Never building a game I could guess...

Use the anamation types to create the different movements with and without weapons then choose the animation based on direction and weapon choice. Now this is a guess but I bet if you went and messed with it you could figure something out with it.

You can use the layer object to automatically order the objects. It's one action: Layerobject: Sort: by y(decreasing).

Re: Dragonguy asks yet another question

Popcorn good idea seeing as it is Isometric and some characters/monsters may overlap.
