    Stupid n00b questions

So I'm not a COMPLETE newb, but I kind of am. I played with Klick and Play and was fairly proficient, but that was years ago and this is now. Then I finally got MM2! w00t. So yeah.

    1) How come when I hit "try movement" all I get is a blank screen?

    2) Same for running the frame and/or application?

    3) How do I enter into the cool on-the-fly editor from back in the day?

    4) Why does my guy I made have a weird background color when I run his animation in the animation editor? (I'm positive it's not the transparency color... it's actually his hand color. Weird).

I'm sure I'll have more. Thanks.

    ~Brent

Adding to questions 1 and 2...

Apparently this has something to do with my having made the window four times the normal size. Mistake?

Regarding #4 look at the 2 colors you have selected in the animation editor, and change them to transparent.

    Other stupid n00b questions:

    1) Why do my missiles have transparent nosecones? Yes, I checked, and I didn't animate them that way.

    2) Why will my guy not shoot consistently? He struggles especially when jumping, only firing two or three times in the air and then jamming up. He's ok when walking and standing, although he gets jams sometimes then, too.

I made him shoot by giving the conditions of the direction he's facing and pushing the shoot button. Is there a better way to do it? I tried other ways and they didn't have the locking up problems but they didn't fly straight... :/

    Re: Stupid n00b questions

Okey, to answer your first questions:

1 & 2) How come when I hit "try movement" all I get is a blank screen?

By default the window is positioned to the upper left corner. You have to activate scrolling in the event editor to display other parts of the frame area:

    * Always:
    - Center position at 0,0 from Player

You find the scrolling actions under the Storyboard controls (the chess icon).

    3) How do I enter into the cool on-the-fly editor from back in the day?

That editor is removed because it was useless once you learn how to use the event editor anyway.

    The new 1)

I don't know what you mean.

    The new 2)

The best method for shooting in my opinion is to create the bullet using the Create object action. The bullet should have bouncing ball movement, (or you can move it pixel by pixel using fastloops, but that is slightly more complicated). Then give it the direction you want. You might want to have one event for shooting while facing left, and one for right.

    Re: Stupid n00b questions

    Thanks Popcorn.

The on-the-fly editor is gone? NO
    That was my favorite feature.

I see how to deal with the screen stuff. Thanks!

New 2) So I shouldn't be using the "shoot" feature? That seems counter-intuitive.

New 1) It's very strange. I made some missiles for my guy to shoot. The tip of them are transparent so you can see whatever is behind them, even though I'm positive I didn't draw them that way. When I make the missiles red, it does not happen, but it does happen with any shade of gray (the color I want them to be).

And I still seem to be having the same jamming problems with the create object option...

Hmm I believe your so called "Jamming" is caused by your object's shooting animation.

    Re: Stupid n00b questions

That's a nice idea, but he doesn't have one.

    He shoots fine if...

He's on the way up on a jump.

He's standing still after moving in a direction.

    He's walking (sometimes).

On the way down from a jump he can never shoot, and often when standing still, and sometimes while walking.

    Weird.
