    "Not a valid win32 application"

Well, I've been using MMF2 for a while now, and I recently got a new laptop. It's running on Windows XP (and I can give all the processor info, etc. if needed).

Now, whenever I put the install disk in this laptop, my disk drive keeps whirring loudly, and then eventually stops. Whenever I try to access the disk, it lags for a bit, and either crashes Windows Explorer, or lets me see the contents.

Now, this is where the real problem kicks in. Whenever I try to do something (such as run setup, or the readme), it says something like "D:\Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application". I've restarted, cleaned the registry, and looked for viruses with no results.

If one of you could help me, it would be wonderful. I really need to finish production on a game I'm making.

Are you talking about the CD of MMF2? If so, maybe just copy the CD with another machine and try the copy on your new one?

If it's not a software problem (no viruses etc), then it sounds like either the cd is damaged (in which case I'm sure CT will give you instructions for getting a replacement) or the drive is damaged or just doesn't like the cd.
Considering Yves recommended you copy it, I'm assuming there is no copy-protection on the disk that would cause problems, so it's more likely the disk or drive is damaged.

Re: "Not a valid win32 application"

I would reccommend backing up the disk to an image file and mount it with Deamon Tools so the disk isn't physically damanged though wear and tear. I would probebly be in the same situation if I used the MMF2 cd every time I needed to install MMF2

I rearly use CD/DVD media now as static (USB Memory) is more convenient. And with it now being possible to backup 3 Terrabytes to usb it's looking more like the commercial sector is following suit.

Hmm... Well, the disk drive itself isn't damaged, since it runs other disks just fine. But I will try copying it later today, to see if that works.

I'll get back to you guys; thanks for the help.
