I'm not sure if this is what you need but create a frame lets call it frame1.

    Condition: Timer = 3 seconds
    Action: Jump to Frame2

    Condition: Press Escape Key
    Action: Jump to Frame2

Could set a fade transaction on the frame.

    Maybe something like this.

How you do a loading screen depends on whether you are building the levels yourself in MMF and you just need something to show while you wait for MMF to load the level, or you have a custom level editor and need to show something while that loads the level file and creates all the objects and pastes backgrounds.

For MMF, just show a frame with nothing but a backdrop before your level. You can't do a progress bar or animate it unfortunately.

For a custom level editor, you just need to show a layer above your playfield while it's loading, and hide the layer when it's done.
