    Using the Flame Object

I really want to use the Flame Object, but it just doesn't seem to work. I put the flame object onscreen, create the condition "Always--set Object [active 35] on fire with effect 3" and run the frame, but the object isn't on fire! What am I doing wrong?

    Re: Using the Flame Object

The active object has to be completely inside the flame object.

It didn't work. I've already made sure that the object is completely inside.

Are you using Direct3D? Have you tried the examples?

    Re: Using the Flame Object

Well, Direct3D is the new display mode of the MMF2 HWA beta, it's hardware-accelerated (graphics card) and most extensions like the flame object aren't supported.

    Re: Using the Flame Object

Yes, unfortunately for the time being, the flame object only supports the standard software. If you are using the hardware accelerated version of MMF, it won't work.

    Re: Using the Flame Object

I think why you need to accelerate 2D game? This is a nonsense!

well if a game is slow, you might like it to go faster...

Also it makes you able to use pixel shaders

    Re: Using the Flame Object

Hardware Acceleration is very useful for MMF2, Darkhog. That is why Clickteam is making it an integral part of the engine and free to current users when it is finished.

You can have a large amount of graphic elements in your game or application with vastly improved speed. This allows for more complex and visually exciting games without lagging. Highly improved frame rates are great and 2D games using the 3D card is the way to go these days.

Plus, there are better, more versatile effects that are a fringe benefit. The effects and shaders being dreamed-up by creative users are extremely useful and effective for greater visual impact on players over all.
