    Re-ordering Joysticks

I've connected two Joysticks to my computer. My game is reading one Joystick as number 4, and the other as number 5. How can I set them to number 1 and number 2?

    Thanks.

yes, it seems to. I want to use the Joypad object, but it only sees joysticks 1 and 2. My joysticks are 4 and 5. (I confirmed this by testing it with the Joystick2 object and a counter. )

    Sorry about the above post.

I'm not sure, though - this sounds like something wrong with the way that Windows is detecting them, as MMF2 just goes off whatever are labelled as joysticks 1 and 2 on your system. Check the "Game controllers" section of Control Panel (if it's still called that. I haven't really checked since Windows 95) and see if they're coming up as you would expect.

    Re: Re-ordering Joysticks

    It's working now!

    DavidN,

On your recommendation, I revisited the "Game Controllers" section of the Control Panel.

There were only the 2 Joysticks plugged in and listed (both the same brand and model).

I clicked the "Advanced" button, which brought up an option to "Select the device you want to use with older programs."

I selected one of the Joysticks, then tested the result in MMF. The Joystick I selected (to use with older programs) became Joystick 1. The other Joystick was still Joystick 4.

I went back to the "Select the device you want to use with older programs" option, and selected the other Joystick.

Now both Joysticks are reset to the 1st and 2nd devices.

I wish there was a way to do this from MMF, but at least I'm working now!

    Thanks, again!
