Flicker

Okay, this is annoying as hell, one of my games runs just fine in Java, while another, which is arguably less complex, has the top two layers of animation flickering all the time...

Note that the flicker only occurs when the applet is resized. If I have a 320x240 applet it doesn't flicker. It's really annoying because nobody wants to play a game in a tiny window like that. But why would one game flicker and not the other?!

What could cause this flicker?

Bit of an update - the flicker seems to be user-end. On my other laptop and friends' computers the flicker is absent. Since this laptop is running Vista on somewhat low spec for the system and the flicker occurs more often when other programs are running, I think it's save to conclude that it's due to RAM usage.

It's more common than is comfortable, though, I've had it reported by other users now. Everything but the very back layer disappears, and sometimes even objects on that layer can vanish. It's really rather ugly.
