    I need serious help

Recently, Vista decides to **** itself up and delete my entire folder with my projects.

It could be a virus, I don't know. Regardless, in a desperate act I retrieve the files back using Recuva. All files work great like they should, EXCEPT some of the .mfas. I get errors regarding "Cannot Copy Data Element!" and then the application fail to load. Is there ANY way I can fix this?

    Thank you
    Mecha

I'd assume that the files had been partially overwritten after being deleted, and that restoring them is now impossible.

If you downloaded and installed this "recuva" after they got deleted then you could have overwritten them by doing that...
Even browsing the web risks overwriting parts of deleted files, as it downloads the pages and images on pages before showing them to you.

    Re: I need serious help

I am pretty confident that the files are not damaged at all. All other files but a few .mfas work perfectly, such as photoshop files, executables, text files and image files. Every single one. However, only a few .mfas refuse to open. I don't think I had them open at the time they got deleted. Beside, I have backups of the files (in .001 format), and when I open them aswell, it gives the same error.

Also, this appears when I open one of the mfas that refuse to work:

Yet after this message, it still says unable to read.

    Help appriciated

That is pretty damn bad... totally feel for you!!

And is exactly why I backup my latest games onto a USB stick as well these days (along with storing onto another computer).

Hope you manage to recover them.

Open the .mfa file in wordpad and see if you can get it to work from there.

Or try reinstalling mmf2, as you could have some missing extensions.

    Re: I need serious help

You should upload some that produce errors and someone can test it to see if it works in their MMF2.

(Sorry, trimmed the Vista discussion which was going nowhere - try to stay focused on the actual problem...)
