    Some fonts don't work in Direct3D 9?

My game does not have this problem under Direct3D 8.

When attempting to use some custom fonts (most of the ones in here: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/760507/resource.rar) they default to some other plain font. This only happens in D3D9. What gives?

Is this on the same PC? If not it could be that the fonts are not installed on the Direct X 9 PC.

When working with non-standard fonts, I type up what I want said and then I convert it to a Backdrop Object, turning the message into a graphic with the used font in question. This eleminates this problem on all PC's that use my software.

It's the same PC. The fonts are installed, of course.

I use the font to display a frequently changing number. Counter objects have the same issue of defaulting to another font.

In my particular case, I've gone back to Direct3D 8 for other reasons, so I'm set either way.

Apparently these fonts work fine on Vista but make the runtime to crash on XP in Direct3D 9 mode.

I get the exact same behavior with the standard text example that comes with the DirectX 9 SDK... their example crashes.

Maybe there is a problem with the format of these font files? Or maybe DirectX doesn't like them for some reason... The crash happens in the Windows Uniscribe DLL.

Legally you should't be distributing these fonts anyway.
