    Seamless Map with Frames?

I want to create an RPG with a seamless map instead of an overworld. To make things easier, I planned to divide the map into frames and connect them together. But I don't want there to be any jumps or fades between frames. Game Maker can do this with their rooms, I think, but can MF2 do it?

Well using frames there is going to be a slight jump moving from one frame to the next.

You can probably avoid this though using a tiling system and loading that into the frame, but that is obviously going to take a lot more work.

If you don't want the "jump effect" it is best to stay with 1 world map.

    Re: Seamless Map with Frames?

Hey, thanks for the help! By "1 world map," nivram, I'm guessing you mean one frame. But it looked like the maximum frame size was 100000 x 100000 pixels. That wouldn't be enough what I'm doing unless the characters were small. Or was there something else you meant?

That is what I meant. Might be better off using small characters. That is one huge map you are doing.

    Check out my example here:

    http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=139408&#Post139 408

Check my Mario example, and then check my Zelda example (3rd post, file called "LoL Source.zip"

The Mario one is simple. A combination of the two examples would probably be what you want.

If you made your levels somewhat larger than the game screen, and used some well placed detectors, you could seamlessly scroll from screen to screen.

    Re: Seamless Map with Frames?

Thanks, but I can't open them for some reason. I have the required extensions, but MMF2 keeps saying it can't open BinaryArray.mfx. I download it, extracted it, and moved each file in the two inner folders to their matching MMF2 folders (data and extensions). Did I do that right?

    Re: Seamless Map with Frames?

You didn't move any of the files/folders in MY Zip file, did you?

I'm sorry if it was misleading, but the "data" folder included in my zip is just the PNG format tilesets for my map maker, and need to be left in their place!

Sorry if it was misleading. I didn't think about it when I uploaded!

Besides that, you will need the Binary Array extension.

    Re: Seamless Map with Frames?

Sorry, I didn't make that very clear myself. This all happened when I downloaded the Binary Array extension, which is also in a zip folder. There are two files called "BinaryArray.mfx," but I don't know what to do with them and MMF2 keeps saying it can't open them.

    Re: Seamless Map with Frames?

In your zip file there is data runtime folder with an mfx file. That goes into the data runtime folder within your MMF folder. In your zip file you will also find extension folder with an mfx file. That goes into the extension folder within your mmf folder.
