    Sound timing problem

Here's what I want to do:

Play a musical introduction immediately followed by a looping chorus (using wav or mp3 etc but not MIDI).

Please read the following before posting:

    ------

    Methods which DON'T work...

    1:
(With MMF 2's built-in sample feature)
    Start of frame: play introfile
Intro not playing: play loopfile (loop)

Result: There is a delay (even with pre-loaded sounds) between the end of the introfile and the start of the loopfile, EVEN THOUGH THE FILES THEMSELVES END AND BEGIN IMMEDIATELY. Proof: I can literally copy and paste the loopfile onto the end of the intro file and it transitions seemlessly without delay.

    2:
(With MMF 2's built-in sample feature)
    Start of frame: play introfile
Timer = <exact ending of intro file>: play loopfile (loop)

Result: Works on my computer and on one other computer fine except when recording for youtube (causing slowdown), in which case it plays at the wrong time. Not good enough, I want it to play seemlessly and be machine/performance-independant.

    Re: Sound timing problem

Are you playing the samples on the same channel, or separate channels?

Merge the two files into one in Audacity or some other program and play it.

    Same channel.

Makes no difference I just tested it with different channels and got exactly the same result.

Then when you loop, the intro will play again (not wanted).

Unless you can set the position of the file to the point of the end of the loop.

Hmmm. well, I'm running out of ideas. Have you tried perhaps playing the files externally with an extension? That might work better.

    Re: Sound timing problem

The only solution seems to lie in some extension which will (without delay) allow you to change the time position of the wav file playing in runtime. Any such extension around?

Possibly ONU - I'm not certain.

The MOD family have looping information built into the file, but if you're already using a WAV-type music then that probably won't help you.
