    make an active object, at the start of the frame do this action.
    paste image into background. and do it as an obstacle

    Paste into background as obsticle. You will notice that the moutains and water are done this way and the character does not go though them.

    no, backdrops are not in the event editor.

    But you can save the points of the backdrop as an ini or something and loop through the ini and create the active and set it's position. Be sure to delete the pasted background!
