aligning frames for fan games help

Hi, i was just wondering if there's any sort of method out there that makers of fangames use for aligning frames from a ripped sprite for use in MMF. I've been working on a basic castlevania movement engine and wanted to test out how it feels with real Castlevania sprites (particularly the stairs)but when putting the sprites in it is proving quite difficult to avoid some jumpy motions during a walk cycle etc that i think has to do with 1 or 2 of the frames being out of alignment slightly which can be quite difficult to remedy if you have a fair quantity of frames, any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

It they come from a sprite sheet, then place the hotspot on all the frames the same by holding atl; be sure to do it before cropping.

If they were not ripped in uniform then you must try to find which part of the object should be most stationary and place your hotspot relative to that..

Also for a game like castlevania (a platformer) keep your hotspots as close to the bottom of you object as possible this drastically reduces collision issues/glitches (especially with the built in platform movement)

unfortunately i don't think the sprites i've got are on a sprite sheet of any kind. Guess i'll google for castlevania spritesheets for a while and if i can't find anything i'll do like you said. Thanks for your response.
