All right, I first made this so my friend (who is my first beta-tester on my project-in-the-making) could experiment easily with the different values that are used in DavidN's custom platform movement. I'm still trying to decide on which specific features to add in (ie. inertia, etc.) so I'm asking for his input with this sandbox. I kept adding features though, and then I decided to put it here so you guys could see too! And use it, of course.
I'm sure most of us are aware of David's awesome tutorial on custom platform movement, and he mentions that you can change the values to create a specific movement of your own. I made this with that in mind. I was tired of changing the values in the event editor, so I made it so you can change them in a "sandbox" type environment. And thus, this was born. This is mostly based on his system of movement, with slight changes that I find more appealing, or maybe just little things I'm picky about.![]()
Glitches:
There's two glitches that I've noticed so far and haven't fixed yet. One is the fact that you get some kind of super jump (I'm not even sure how, it usually happens when you're holding a direction and up and you jump. It's easy to do from the stairs.). I'm not sure how to fix that because I'm not sure why it's happening yet. The second, is the left inertia value. It can go above 0, which it shouldn't be able to. I tried to fix it for like 20 minutes... and it never ended up working like it's supposed to. The code that is buggy is simple enough (one condition) that it shouldn't be having this issue, I'm starting to think it's MMF2 that's bugging out and not my code. Either that or something totally stupid that I'm overlooking. I'm still working on adding a couple of things and I'll keep trying to fix these bugs. In the meantime... just keep the left inertia value below zero, ok? It's not like something super bad happens if it doesn't though.
Controls:
Ok, so you have your basic platform controls (my favorites, z and x). You can still change the buttons in the menu. I left everything up there as the default. To open up the editor, press the tilde key. Looks like "`" or like "~" with the Shift key held down. If you can't find it, it's right next to the number 1 in the standard number row. After that almost everything should be clear.
There's a spawn point you can change if you lose your character. Pressing Fire 2 (Default to 'X') to toggle the visibility of the spawner. Click it once to pick it up and click again to set it down. Clicking Steve (the stone guy at the bottom right) will spawn you a new player.
As a last minute added addition, you are now able to push a button to thank me! Yay! It will also show my response after you have clicked it. Please note that it isn't something serious and I'm not able to actually see you thanking me unless you post it here.
Please tell me if you have any other ideas for me to add, or any other feedback. I wish you all the best!
