Game with Online Updates?

Hello Yall,

I was wondering, is it possible to have your game check online on a server somewhere if there is an update for the game?

Use live reciever and send a script a URL with the installed version of the application in it

Something like.....
www.url.com/version_check.php?version=1

Then your script can check the value of the version and return some text on if the player needs to update or is running the current version.

Everytime you release an update you simply update your PHP script
Perhaps if a update is needed live reciever sends back the URL to download the update.

I'd recommend using OINC rather than Live Receiver (it's much more stable!)
