Is there any way (through an extension, maybe?) that I could create text with an outline effect? (Like applying a stroke in Photoshop, for example)

I'm making a program that overlays text onto a bunch of images (kind of like a digital photo frame that also tells you the weather), and so I need to make the text have decent contrast on any color background.

Had you considered using Text Blitter? Then you have full control over what your font looks like.
