    problem with attack animations

I made a special animation for a custom character where it zaps the enemie, but when I try to animate it attacking the other way, the clipboard only stretches one way,so I have to move the character. Is there a way to make it so The character doesn't move when doing the animation?

Click on the eye icon in the collection of tools at the left hand side of the picture editor - this is the Hot Spot. It acts as the origin point for the animation, and as the object's real X/Y position on the screen - if you drag it around then you can change where the animation is displayed from and prevent the character moving as the animation is played.

Well that works better, but can you give me some advice as to where to move the hot spot?

Any place that you can consistently identify on the object (ideally something that always stays in the same place no matter what the other parts of the animation are doing, but that's not always possible). Many people choose to put their hot spot in the centre of the object and then base it from that, but I've changed to prefer the top left corner, now, unless it's something that needs to be rotated at run-time, or another reason that would make it benefit from having it in the middle.

I prefer the bottom of the feet or bottom of the sprite near the center. I've had good luck with it so far.

    Re: problem with attack animations

You can fix the problem yourself quite easily once you understand whats going on. An ideal hotspot location for platformer character sprites is in the at the bottom. between where both feet would be if he were standing.

You need to make sure you place the hotspot in the same relative position in EVERY frame of EVERY animation. If you don't do this, the character will "teleport around" when it switches frames or anmiations.

Make sure the hotspot for the attack, standing, walking, and whatever other animations are down at the bottom, between where the feet would be for every frame and for every animation.

Once you do this and it works...think about why it works and what was happening when it didnt work.

the hotspot tells the game where to draw the character. If the hotspot jumps all over the place between frames or animations, so will your character. If the hotspot is always down between the feet, centered horizontally between where the feet would be, then everything should match up nicely.

    good luck

umm I have to walk(not play walk animation, just move) in order to finish the animation. Is there a way to fix this?
