    Simple Questions about strings.

    Can you destroy them?

I've tried all manner of events and actions to destroy a string in my Game. No matter what I do, though, it always remains. (even if I put "Always: Destroy String" it stays there.) Is there anyway to get rid of this thing?

    Yes... I did.

I unchecked it and tried to destroy it, but It still remains.

I think the text inside the box disappears, but the debugger shows that the object itself still exists.

Oh yeah, it seems that the string cannot be destroyed from memory, but only destroyed visibly. I thought your problem was that the string was literally still there, as plain as you can see it. (In which case I would have you set the text to "", as you think is happening)

Must be a bug or it might just be the way it has to be.

    Re: Simple Questions about strings.

Okay. Sorry I was unclear about what was happening. Good to know that it's not a glitch on my system. All I'm worried about is that the string seems to consume the same amount of memory while it's invisible as when it's in plain view.

Oh well. I'll figure out a way to work around it. Thanks for your insight. =D

I think I had a similar problem with the active picture object, then Yves fixed it. Perhaps this should be posted as a bug report so the staff is sure to read it?
