    Help Needed For Project

I am attempting to make a simple online RPG. For 2 people. My method is by transferring an .ini file and have the variables in the .ini to be scanned an acted upon. These .ini files will be uploaded and downloaded via an FTP account on www.drivehq.com I was testing the FTP object by simply preforming a simple: If connected to FTP, set alterable string to Connected!

When I ran it and tested it. The String never changed. In fact, I tried making a few other strings to display random things about my FTP account but they did not show up other than the "Show last error string" Which said no error. All the others didn't even show up. I then attempted to make a string that simply changed to a name when i clicked. When I clicked, it did not show up or even change. What is wrong and can I have some help please?

"I am attempting to make a simple online RPG"

Well this doesn't make any sense lol, but good luck.

I checked out DriveHQ last night, what a coincidence... I didn't get mine to work however. (Please tell me how you find your FTP server name or whatever ) For the purposes you're using it you should really be using an online database (I think, someone else confirm please), for instance SQL. It would eliminate the need of an INI and allow users to save their info online. DavidN made a Highscores tutorial that might help you learn about SQL...

GOSH where did that go?! Jeff got rid of it and replaced it with his own

DavidN's had you actually write the php and make the SQL and explained how it worked.

AHA! FOUND IT (well stephen1980 did, thank him ) http://www.clickteam.com/eng/resources/online_score/onlinescoreboards.html

thanks. This should help. I just hope that it will be able to transfer 15-30 different strings and varialbes accordingly. I may consider adding chat once i get it running.

I just want people to know that there was no bad blood on Jeff's part or anything - just that his tutorial was a little more relevant now that Moosock isn't usually used on its own to pass data to pages

The theory is much the same, though - you should be able to pass your variables around fine if you set it up right.

    Lol,

    I just yours David

Jeff's I use more now and is increasingly easy to make highscores from but with yours I learned how to do other things with SQL and PHP...

Yours is more versatile, Jeff's is more easily implemented
