    Dynamic Grid Object

Usually background system boxes fit my grid needs just fine, but I couldn't find a good alternative when I needed to change the cell size at run time. So I made this.

This object will let you change the grid size and cell size at run time. The three separate components of a grid: vertical lines, horizontal lines, and intersection points are individual images that you can change, and they will be used to rebuild the grid when you need to change the cell size. The components can separately be enabled or disabled at run time so you could easily switch between a regular line-grid and an MMF-style dot grid on the fly.

This is my first graphical extension (second total), so there might still be some issues with it. Let me know if there are.

    Re: Dynamic Grid Object

After using it for a while, my conclusion is this: easy, simple yet powerful and useful extension. Love it. Has all the features I need plus a few that I didn't, but due to them being available I now do. Keep up your brilliant extensions

    Re: Dynamic Grid Object

even though mechabowser mentioned this, setting either cell size to 0 during edittime makes mmf blow up

    isometric really would be nice.
Also, what about a way of changing the grid lines via events? I understand you can colour them during edit time, but runtime might be a nice feature if its not too difficult.

but if you can do isometric I would be realllly happy :P

    Re: Dynamic Grid Object

I will probably go back and add a separate line mode (like how the counter object can be images or bars etc), that will let you recolor and resize lines. But I can't predict what kind of lines people would draw in their images (for testing I did diamonds, waves, chain link, etc), so I can't touch those.

Isometric should also be doable in line mode.

    Re: Dynamic Grid Object

I've updated the object to support several more things:
    - X/Y origin offsets
    - Optional line display type (plus ability to change line color and weight)
    - +/- Slope Lines for the line display type, so you can have isometric or oblique grids as well. The degree of slope is determined by the ratio of the cell width and height.

You will almost certainly need to delete any old dynamic grid objects from your frames before replacing the object. If you forget to do this and your application crashes when you open it, the original file is available at http://hocuspocus.taloncrossing.com/rii/dyngrid-v1.zip
