Can't get virtual height auto scrolling to work

Well I need a background that continually scrolls vertically. I set the virtual height to -1, and then create a hidden active and set the scrolling to center on that. Nothing happens. The active just goes off the screen. I have unchecked follow the frame.

Anybody know how I can get this to work? I know I've seen stuff about this on the forum but I can't find it using the search.

I think it goes down indefinitely. Not up.

Try putting the active at Frame Height - Object Height at the start of frame.

Arrggh. you're right. I got the background scrolling now, just the wrong direction lol. Is there a way to fix that? Or would I just have to use a system of scrolling tiles for the background?

Hmm... I don't think you can fix it, but what you could do is just make your background layer scroll down and wrap I suppose...
