    Character movement

    Hi

I have a platform on which I put an RPG character. I set the movement to platform. When I test the frame, the character just falls through the platform. I need the character to move, on its own, slowly toward the right from its starting position when the frame starts but the character needs to stay on the platform until the end of the platform is reached and then the character should fall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Adrian

    A. you need to make the platform an obsticle in it's properties if it is a backdrop.
    B. You need to make events for this platform that when the character collides with it they should 'bounce', or not fall through it.

    Thanks...it worked great.

One last thing, is there a way to make the character walk slowly to the right on its own?

    Thanks,

    Re: Character movement

Why not use the path movement or set it's X position via events? You'd have to set animations by events too, but that's not too hard. If you're making an intro or something you shouldn't use the platform movement. Use the Platform Movement Object for this, it makes things so much easier to control, AND it's way way better than the built in movement. MMF2's built in movement is full of bugs.

I'm very new so I'm having some trouble with this. My objective is to have the little guy walk on top of a floating island (that is an active object) and when he reaches the end of the island, he falls.

It works great if I set the little guy's movement to Platform and control him with the right arrow but I would like him to walk off the island on his own when the frame starts.

    Re: Character movement

You can't do that with the built in Platform movement.

    Re: Character movement

You'll need to use the Platform Movement Object, or you could create a custom platform movement with DavidN's tutorial.
