Try making a small, solid black active object at the bottom and right sides of the dotted line. have them act like an HUD in that the don't follow the rest of the frame. put the hot spot in the top left.

make a "start of frame event" and change the scale of the black active object to something big...several more times the size of the original window size.

    Re: Bug In Flash Games

That would work for larger screen sizes, but it won't solve the problem when you select smaller ones.

This is a site with plenty of flash games and they all work ok when you resize the zoom value of the browser. No "overlays"; they just adjust the resolution of the game to the new size of the control.

BHGames you're right that it's problem with a runtime in a runtime. Because resize option is browser dependable and only is something is not made fully properly makes such issues (even webpages).

    Re: Bug In Flash Games

Well, so far it happens with IE, Firefox and Chrome. In the site I posted before all games change the size of their canvas when you zoom in and out but in all their resolution adjust to fit the new size.

If those flash games can handle it why click-based ones cannot/shouldn't? Imho this should be fixed without workarounds like overlay objects and such. Resize the resolution to fit the canvas.

Try stretching a flash game to be way too thin or way too wide. ALL flash apps have this problem. If you design your game correctly you will not have this problem!

Not all flash apps. Only those which do not adjust their resolutions the canvas size.

As I say before, try the games in this page:

    http://www.flash-game.net/

    The perfectly handle that situation.

    Re: Bug In Flash Games

and the fact that Flash Standalone the "Genuine" versions use Mathmatical Vectors as their main functioning, might that have anything to do with it?

I have Flash and MMF 2.

I think a lot of users might run into problems by not being familiar with the way actual Flash works outside MMF 2.

Then again I also don't know much about the Flash exporter, it might compensate for being a Flash assimilator...

Oh and before anyone chimes in that they also have a copy of Flash standalone, i figure a few people would have it too. [laugh]

But if you haven't dropped the $700+ for it then this might mean you.

    Re: Bug In Flash Games

It's nothing to do with Flash - it uses Flash Player, but through Flex/ActionScript 3.0. It doesn't work on a timeline or anything - Flex is more like Java than anything else.
