    Flash and MP3

    - Sounds are automatically compressed to MP3
A question to this. The MP3 licensing issue jumps straight into my face here.

    http://www.mp3licensing.com/royalty/games.html

Since the conversion is automatically, is there a manual alternative to MP3 in the flash file? I would prefer to have WMA for example because of the licensing issues. I don`t want to pay 2500 dollars after 5000 unique players of my game. And i don`t want to put it offline neither when i reach this number of unique players

You do not have to pay royalties for MP3 included in SWF files !

You have to pay royalties if you distribute an application that contains a MP3 codec. The MP3 codec is in Adobe Flash player, not in the SWF files.

    Re: Flash and MP3

So basically even if you use MP3 and sell lots you won't have to pay them royalties it seems as long as your using MMF Flashes exported SWF with the MP3s stored inside, this is good news.

    Re: Flash and MP3

I enjoy being able to compile to MP3 files, although it would be nice to have the option to have a filter that's specifically active when targetting Flash to load MP3 files (you know, so we don't have to re-compress stuff in a lossy way twice....)
