Well at least you know it's definitely possible.

Yeah, not like anything else would be doing HTTP requests in the background, either. I mean HTTP obviously isn't used for anything other than the web browser, and it's only used for the current page since web pages don't contain any images or anything and there's no such thing as AJAX. Good thinking UrbanMonk!

Re: Get URL from active browser.

My web traffic monitoring program can target specific programs, such as the web browser, and it can also extract the exact URL.

You don't have to attack me you know, I'm sure people will still respect you or whatever it is people do to you that your afraid of losing.

Anyways I use this Network Monitor:

OK - That seems like good news. I think...

    Thanks UrbanMonk...

So how exactly would you suggest I implement this thing then. Where would I start..? Which extensions will I have to learn and use...

Once again - thank you for your help.

Somone from another forum made something in .net that would take all edit box data from your screen and start spam-sending it if you had a chat open. I don't know how they did it without user input.
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

No, that was just a joke bradley, you wouldn't actually want to implement this as a method of getting the URL, mostly because I'm sure Virus protection would raise a red flag.

I was just saying that it was "possible" is all.

I'm not afraid of "losing", it was just a really, really stupid idea. I think you ignored the rest of my post when you started talking about your network monitor :P

    Ahh - got it...

I came across an old progam called 'clipmagic' which has the exact feature I am looking for.

    http://www.clipmagic.com/

Each time you take a clip - it records the url. Check it out...

I downloaded it and tried it on vista with AVG. No virus report.

I just wish I knew how to do it...

Re: Get URL from active browser.

Does it work with every browser?

I guess it could search through all the edit boxes in a window and find the one that contains text starting with http://

Re: Get URL from active browser.

I tested it on IE and Firefox...

    No problems...

I still have to check on others though I am sure it will work...
