    SubApp: Display As Sprite?

    Hi all,

What exactly does this property of the Sub-Application Object do? It doesn't seem to behave any differently?

No, it draws is as a sprite instead of a window, so actives can be in front of it and HWA effects can be applied to it. The option was added for HWA.

It lets you run subapps in HWA mode - but they aren't treated like separate windows like they are in standard mode. AKA, you can no longer use them to pause games.

Yeah, re-reading it, that looks like a no-brainer But I get that it was ported for HWA What I don't get is why the feature was never moved across to the standard display modes as well. That's what surprises me, especially since subapps appear to share the same address space, so with a pointer to the display surface of a subapp, you should theoretically be able to display the subapp's surface in the parent window as a sprite instead of as a window...?

If it's not something CT plan to add, I might try doing it as a little extension object, kind of like the old Active Overlay Object, but an Active Subapp instead.

Hi Dines. I think that the Active Subapp Extension is a great idea.
