Best way to cache many images for iso object?

I am making an iso RTS game. Right now I am making the level editor & am stumped on how to cache all the terrain tiles to paint the scenery in real time. The closest I have got (not far!) is to load my iso tiles (0 - 17) into an Active object as the Stopped animation. Most have transparent areas, so to display them on top of each other is no problem.
My idea is to layer them using the Iso Grid object, but it is very tedious as I have to repeatedly move the object around, set its animation frame, copy it to background, change background, move it to next cell... I am kind of new to MMF2 but not programming. Is there a better, more efficient way to do this?

Have you considered using an active picture object? Its usually more stable for pasting many backdrops, and can load many images.

    Use the background images object.
I posted an isometric example in the file archive a while ago, I will dig it out for you
