    Partially follow character?

I am looking to create a distant object illusion. So I want objects 'close' to the character to move behind him in a platform level at normal speed, but on the more backward layers, I want it to scroll backword a little slower. So I want it to follow the frame a little, but still end up dissapearing to the side of the frame.

Is this possible? Would I have to create a custom movement for the backdrops?

This is known as parallax scrolling, and it's covered at the end of this tutorial. It involves the use of multiple layers with different scrolling coefficients.
