    Destructible Terrain...kind of

I understand this would be a cinch if I were using a custom level editor, but simply put - I'm not. Hopefully this can be done without one.

I have a level in my platform game that is made up of one giant image. The "Level Image"

Destructible 16x16 collision tiles are placed underneath this image.

I need a 16x16 square of the level image cut out at the same spot as a destructible tile when it is destroyed. These "cut out squares" will have to reappear over time.

    Is this possible?

Thanks so much for any help.

You should try have a look at the new Surface object!
You can have the big "level image" inside of it and you can then simply remove areas of it using the drawing features of it and the collisions will work as you would expect it to do.

You could just have the images that "cut out" terrain the same color as the background, giving the effect of it being cut out. You could also try and split the image or use a different object to draw your background.
