    Issues with multiple key presses

    Hi
are there some keyboard buttons that just don't work well with multiple keys being held at the same time?

Because I had "Space" assigned to my button for attack in the platform game I'm working on & when I tried performing a crouched attack while still holding the direction I was walking (Down + Right) the key press didn't register & the player didn't attack but when I switched it to "shift" instead everything worked fine. I also switched the controls around in someone elses example & ended up having the same problem I encountered, I did quite a bit of cursing and fiddling before realising how easily i could fix it & I'd like to avoid such an occurance again if possible.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

    Yes.
Back in the days when computers were made correctly you could find out the limits of your computer's keyboard by listening for the beep from the internal speaker. Most keyboards have verious cominations of keys that you can press simultaneously, and other combonations will not work. In some places pressing two keys is too much, but other you can get away with four.

You can make an application to show you your keypresses and investigate this furthur if you like

LB, would this problem be eliminated if you have your game use a control pad? Or is that still a problem depending on what controller the person is using?

All depends on the controller in some cases. The connection type (USB or other) can also affect how the signal is sent and thus create the limitations.

Re: Issues with multiple key presses

    So it's my keyboard then

I noticed a few other games i've seen have used keys like Z,X,W,D, things like that for their controls as opposed to Ctrl,Space, etc I'm curious is that just personal preference or is their a actual reason behind it?

Re: Issues with multiple key presses

I had this issue before and I was reporting it to Francois as MMF2 Bug but we get to the point that it's keyboard failure. So for example for 1 laptop it will work for other won't. And the safest way is to use MAX 2 keys
