    Sub-Application OtherFrame-Transparent Background

    Hi,

I am trying to create a menu that appears upon a key, but to keep things clean and tidy, I am creating the menu in a Sub Application. Is it not possible to make the background color of the frame I am displaying within the Sub Application transparent?; so only the active objects (representing buttons) within the Sub Application are visible and not the background.

    Thanks!

    Looki

Judging by Looki's viewing time on this topic without a reply, it's probably not possible.

He's using active objects though. I guess these are moving.

    Re: Looki

You could make it semi-transparent... but then you're buttons will be too ;/

You'd need to use the Windows Transparency object or the Kernel object or something

Or you can wait until the Window Shape object get transparency added. Yves said he added it to the wishlist. Or maybe it was Francios.

I really wanted a sub application frame to be transparent or semi-transparent and was very disappointing that it is not possible. But alas - it is!

Downloading Window transparency with examples here; http://www.g2f2media.com/mf2/WndTransp.zip, there is a file called 'Test Window Transparency' that does just that. You need to st the sub app as a pop-up window and in the properties of the Window Transparent object, you enable 'Sub-app use' and select the alpha channel for the background color of your window.

Semi transparent is also achievable by not selecting an alpha channel and set the transparency value as desired.

I hope it helps someone out there; since I was stuck.
