avi extension exporting to mac application?

Hello,

I built a test application with just avi extension in it to play an avi video. It worked fine on the pc, but it gave me an error when I executed the application on the Mac OS.

The error is
Cannot launch java application
Uncaught exception in main method java.lang.NullPointerException

It seems it's looking for the .avi file? it can't find so the it causes the pointer to be null or something.

any help is appreciated.

THe AVI object cannot be compatible with Mac, which works with Quicktime.

Is there an extension to play a video file for mac apps? I saw quicktime extension but it only shows up on pc application.
