Problem with user clicking mouse button

Hello, I just purchased ths standard version of MMF2 the other day and I had mmf1.0,1.2, & 1.5 and this worked in there.

I am making a simple mouse movement a ship being moved side to side with the mouse which works fine. But in the events editor I chose in new condition/the mouse/user clicks/left mouse button.
In the checkbox across from that i chose a sample sound to play and under the ship i use to control with my mouse i chose..
shoot a selected object/chose the object i want the ship to shoot when left mouse was clicked/ and then choose what direction and chose UP for my direction.

I hope i did that right or am I missing something? When I do it with just using keyboard but exact same way it works fine, just not with mouse. It didnt work on the trial version neither when I followed along with the choco tutorial thing I tried to replace with the mouse button and wouldnt work unless i did it with keyboard.. Whats wrong or what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Doug

Re: Problem with user clicking mouse button

I think you might be tripping on a common MMF quirk there - when you have an object that uses a Mouse movement, you have to detect clicks using the Player Presses Fire ( conditions rather than the User Clicks events (as all clicks are redirected through the object, or something like that).

Re: Problem with user clicking mouse button

If you have an object with mouse movement you need to use the player commands to check for firing.

The mouse movement overrides the mouse controls.

Re: Problem with user clicking mouse button

thanks for the help, but since im new to mmf2 I am not quite sure where the player commands to check for firing option is. I havent used MMF software in awhile so I am rusty. COuld you perhaps just tell me what to look under or where to go ( in a nice way. HAH!) let me know please..thanks

Re: Problem with user clicking mouse button

    It's in the Player1 / Joystick conditions.

You can also try to use a static movement instead of mouse movement, and instead set the object's xposition to xmouse in the eventeditor. Then the mousebutton conditions will be availible
