Minor complaint for the pinball movement

Ok, so I like using the pinball movement for gravity realistic explosions, it's really useful for that... however, I have a game the has an underwater mode.

For this mode, I want the exploding debris to rise up instead of fall down. Should be easy right, set a negative gravity? nope. Set the gravity direction in the event editor? nope. Set a property of the movement? nope. As far as I can tell, it can't be done.

This is kind of a shortcoming, considering the only programming required on Clickteam's part is to invert the Y axis.

I know how to create realistic gravity effects using the event editor, so this is my workaround, but I'm disappointed it's not a feature of the pinball movement.

If I am overlooking something, please let me know, I'd love to know a way changing the gravity direction of the pinball movement.

ake the object invisible and have a different object that is set to its X position, and Frame Height-Y position. This will invert it.

you can also just change the gravity to a negative number in the event editor. then make the speed increase every x seconds.

    example: http://mfa.aquadasoft.com/view/1277263102-negative_gravity

Wait, why doesn't the Clickteam Movement Controller do this? Or does it?

Clcikteam movement controller is for the new clickteam movements that were added to replace the Gwerdy ones and the Gwerdy movement controller. (I think it was Gwerdy... ?)

Oh I'm thinking about the vector movement... (maybe you should use that instead )

Dude the way I see it you shouldn't really use the default movements that MMF2 or any of Clickteam's software provides you with (because they suck) unless it's bouncy ball or something.

You should try your hardest to figure out a logical way in the Event Editor.

Re: Minor complaint for the pinball movement

I agree that some of the clickteam movements are useless. However, it's funny that you say 'try your hardest' because I'm actually looking to 'try the least hard'. I developed gravity movements in the event editor long ago with the Games Factory. I prefer the instantanious drag and drop method of some of the movements. If I can avoid having to reimplement my old event editor hacks and just drop some gravity objects in every game then I can be much more productive.

Also vector moment works, and does accept negative gravity values. So I think I'll use that from now on.

Re: Minor complaint for the pinball movement

I think we would all like to use the simplicity of the drag n drop approach. But what we find is that the more we try to incorporate the built in movements into our trickier code, the more "flaws" we find. I'm not saying all the movements have problems (Vector is my favorite, by far) but you start to shy away from Pinball and Bouncing Ball, unless you are using them for things like effects or explosions when you realize what you can't do with them.

Here's hoping MMF3 will make them more customizeable so we don't have to hand code all the math every project.
