Joystick 2 Object and Windows 7

    Hi Folks.

I created a program which uses the Joystick 2 object, joystick2.mfx. This works great under Windows XP but when installed on Windows 7, it doesn't work. Launching the program throws up the error message, "Cannot load joystick2.mfx. The object might need an external program or library not yet installed."

Anyone got any ideas what's wrong here and how to fix it as this is a program for a special needs child, would like to get it up and running A.S.A.P.

I would recommend sending a PM to z33z and see if this has been reported.

Have you tried any other windows 7 computers? Usually that error only happens randomly because it couldn't extract/read the file. I exeriance this on and off randomly and I guess the file is too temporary and gets deleted too sono.
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

It's normally due to an extension needing runtime libraries that the system doesn't have installed. It's normally the C runtime library, but not in this case. The only non-standard dlls used are:
    XINPUT1_3.DLL
    DINPUT8.DLL

I'd try running the direct-x updater on the pc.

Do you use version 1.3? It shouldn't be depended of XInput1_3.dll, just dinput8.dll which should be included in DirectX version 8 through 11.

I downloaded it fresh from the neatwares list.

    I should know better...

Maybe Paul is using an old version too?
EDIT: Dug out the new version if this is the problem: here

Re: Joystick 2 Object and Windows 7

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this topic. I found that after doing a Direct X update the program ran fine so it is now up and running. I have also downloaded the newer version of joystick2, thanks for the link.
