Is there a way to record a demo outside the frame?

    Hey, folks!

Is there a way to record a demo (of mouse and keystrokes) that take place outside the frame space?

Or, alternatively, is there a way I can have my application minimized or hidden in some way such that I could record a demo of mouse and keystrokes that take place behind my application?

I am trying to record mouse and keystrokes to automate a software task. I could look into other tools (such as AutoIt), but I wanted to explore using MMF2 first (as it would be a more tidy solution).

    Thank you!

    Most graciously...

EDIT: Another question regarding demo recording... What is the keystroke to end the recording?

For stopping demo recording you simply close your application...

Also you should use the Key object and Mouse obejct
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

Re: Is there a way to record a demo outside the frame?

    Hey, LB!

Actually, this particular third-party application (one of my company's products) is really unruly when it comes to scripting its functionality. I have written a script using a combination of the Time/Date object, the Kernel object, the Control-X object, and the Mouse object... It was all controlled by timing, but it is really clunky, and unfortunately the script doesn't work 100% of the time. Since this particular project is for a marketing campaign, the script needs to work very reliably and cleanly.

I have been looking into free scripting tools like AutoIt (which looks nice, though it is entirely a text-based scripting tool with no GUI), but I thought that if I did the mouse and keyboard strokes myself using a MMF2 recorded demo, then it would be just as good as an automated script without the headache of timing everything!

Of course, my company's third-party application is outside of the MMF2 application frame, so the MMF2 recording would need to be able to capture mouse/keyboard strokes that way.

This marketing project, using MMF2 as the potential customer's guide, has been turning out pretty well (even if I do say so myself). Who knows--perhaps you might want to log on to our sandbox environment once the project is finished, just to check it out! ;-)

You could use Java (the real Java not MMF2 build) which includes a robot class that can do exactly what you want
