    Re: scrolling background

    Well doing this the way suggested earlier about leaving the frame and then wrap....it worked to an extent. my road scrolls left and repeats like normal except that a few pixels from the right edge of the window(not quite sure how many, maybe 10 to 15) its chopped off. i created an active object as the scrolling object and have it set to bouncing ball facing left. is there any way to fix this?

    well, it is insanely easy if you use the parallaxer object.

    heres an example

    edit: if you want vertical scrolling just change it in the object properties

    get the parallaxer object here

    Viewtiful, this was a MAJOR help man! kudos to you dude! but one thing i noticed.......when adding the picture to the parallax, it seems that the transparent color doesnt take. like you can set it when you pick and edit your picture, it takes in the frame editor, but when you run the program the color is present. any ways around this? thanks again for the uber helpful tutorial and extension!

    No, you need to change coding for that.

    You see, Warp works as soon as the object touches the edge of frame. That's why it works best with small stars.

    If you have a long piece of road (100pixels long,with a (0,0) hotspot, try:
    --Road xpos=(641)
    ==Road xpos set to (-100)

    The road will have a bouncing ball movement to the right. You will need two or more of them, but i haven't tried it extensively myself.

    The Wrap around Play area action only happens when it leaves the play area and it completely on the outside.

    LB is right, this method works(and would work well with stars i am sure) but it looks on leaving the frame. it does the trick, but the only problem with doing this using a road is that for the wrap to work the entire picture has to leave the frame completely. you can duplicate the road and set them up the same way but it still does this. the parallaxer object is awesome for what i need it to do, but thanks for all the input guys! :grin:
