Sending infomation to external application

I want to do some analytics of my flash game; number of times played, when a player dies, when he gives up, when he runs out of ammo- that sort of things.

I want it to run in the background and feed information to a sub-app perhaps hosted on my server. Anyone know a simple way of doing this? Are there any legal stuff tied to this- do I need to inform the user in detail what's happening?

You could use Mochiads, they support to send stats. If this is no option, you'll probably have to php and mysql to receive and store stats.

Assuming there's no personal user data involved, there shouldn't be a legal problem.
