    Music Not Working

Well, I've downloaded quite a few of MMF2 games, and ones I've made. And, well, for some reason, the music isn't working on my computer anymore. It won't play, and it's crucial since I'm currently making a MMF2 game. Sounds play, but Music doesn't. Any way to fix it?

If you're playing a .mid file and you can't hear sound, it's probably because the "synthesizer", "software synth" (or something like that) is muted. Check the windows mixer.

Remember that "play music" only plays .mid files. If you want to play an ogg file or a module as music use "play sample". General midi synthesizers are getting obsolete, I don't really expect them to be compulsory for that long since there's no reason to support a format that's only used in really old games and a handful of freeware games (I actually hope CT will ditch the .mid support for MMF since less is more). It's better to stick to ogg files or modules, as you'll be able to make sure they play with the right volume, and with the same sounds on every computer. To get modules, go to modarchive.org. Most of the creators there will say yes to having their music in a game.

Actually, .mid files work, it's .mp3 files that won't work.

You need to convert the MP3 files to OGG to work with the internal sound engine.

To use MP3 files you would have to use an external object like Direct Show to play them.

Jeff is right, once you convert the music to .ogg files it will work just fine. all of my tunes in my game are .ogg dont forget if you want the music to carry over across different frames to check the properties. im not at home now so i cant give you a specific, but there is something in the properties that enables the music to do this.
