    using flv's for background music....a great tip?

    I was looking for ways to make a nice looping soundtrack in flash, so I thought about creating a 1x1 pixel flv with my music and stream it inside my app.

    It didn't work there is still a gap in the sound when looping. But my video editing tool did a better job at compressing the flv, than mmf did with the wav sound embedded. So this looks like a great way to cut preasures load time and cut trafic on your server, or does it?

    Does anyone know if an flv generates trafic on your server when looping, or is it cashed by the browser?

    I renamed the flv on my server after the game was done loading, and the music keeps playing.

    Only if I open a new tab in internet explorer and starts browsing heavily will the music stop.

    This is super news for any big flash game with loads of background music and environment sounds like mine. This way I can shave 3-4mb of the swf size, have the music play almost instantly and not overload my server.

    LB> Yeah, if I were to open a new tab and view youtube vids, the browser fills up the cache and looses the flv in the flash app. Or at least I think that's what happens.

    But your not gonna rename your flv when people starts playing your game are you. I just wanted to make sure that for every game session that it would not constantly stream the flv each time the music loops, that would kill my server.
